Zero Kieran McKenna Celtic Talks as Bellamy Commits to Wales

Both are being considered with the manager's job at the Premiership title holders following the former manager's departure on the start of the week.

The Manager's Stance on Celtic

McKenna referred to Celtic as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The mid-thirties took charge of Portman Road in 2021 and guided the team to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they managed only a handful of victories last season as they were demoted back to the Championship and they presently occupy twelfth place in the Championship.

"I have not had such discussions," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any part of my focus is this week.

"I have a unique position here at a special club. And we're at a really important stage of the campaign. Anything outside of that hasn't reached my awareness."

Context and Agreement Details

Reports indicate that the manager would be willing to talk to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely all people has to go around and declare what they were, but of course it's a massive football club."

The coach agreed to a fresh four-year contract in last year and was asked about his reported £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he responded. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I approach this role like I'll be Town's coach forever. I know that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I'll always give maximum effort as while I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Position

Bellamy represented the Hoops on loan from the Magpies in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Wales striker is inclined to complete the ongoing World Cup campaign, a position that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are currently in third place in their World Cup group behind group toppers the Red Devils and second-placed Macedonia.

Victories over Liechtenstein and their rivals in next month would secure their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but assured of reaching that stage, due to a successful European competition campaign, even if they fail to finish as their group runners-up.

Considering his present stance, Bellamy, whose contract expires after the European Championship, would not be available until following the qualifying matches at the minimum.
