Three Named as Finalists for Young Sports Star Award

Announced recently

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the 2025 Young Athlete of the Year award.

The trio have been celebrated for their exceptional achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang helped the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the very first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a historic innings.

Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The three contenders were revealed during a live broadcast on a national radio breakfast show.

This year's winner will be announced during a live broadcast on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.

The event will be aired from seven in the evening GMT.

The Football Star

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Just three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the best young player in Europe.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.

"Being on the shortlist for this honour is an honour," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in spectacular fashion as - while still 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

He didn't stop there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, shattering the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a big honour," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a proud moment for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

Davina Perrin

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and rose to fame with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the batting rankings and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.

"I'm deeply humbled to be shortlisted for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it encourages more young females to get into cricket."
