Former President Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the White House.
He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Memorials across the state have been held in their honor.
The president said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president informed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”
Attendees came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist law enforcement in Washington DC.
“She was the individual that instructors desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her alma mater, stated to the media. “She was caring, caring and always ready to assist people.”
Memorial details for Sarah are still being arranged.
Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy led the government to suspend refugee claims and cease granting entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor the governor said on a news program.

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with distinction, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the crowd at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
