On the eve of his six-year milestone at the helm, Mikel Arteta has made it clear that his continued role with the club is directly connected to winning major honors.

A Look Back: Six Years in Charge

Arteta took over on 20 December 2019 and soon guided the team to an cup win not long after. But, that initial silverware stands as his sole significant piece of silverware after taking over from Unai Emery.

“Yes,” he stated when questioned about his future past 2027. “Yet it's about today. And many things need to fall into place in the coming months as well to earn the right.”

Despite the availability issues and the immense scrutiny, Arteta is confident the club's “priorities and messaging” are completely changed from when he began his reign.

He pointed to the record-breaking achievements as evidence of progress. “Examine the performances, all the records that we... were breaking... We still haven’t managed to do that [win trophies]. But that shows the caliber we've reached.”

He finished by saying, “It represents a quality that the Premier League has not seen before in the past. And our aim is to achieve greater objectives. And if we do that, I think we are on the correct trajectory to winning.”
