Music Legend Barry Manilow to Undergo Surgery for a Lung Cancer Diagnosis.

The singer has disclosed that he received a diagnosis with a cancerous growth in his lung and will be having surgery.

Cancer Caught Early

The octogenarian performer, famous for his series of upbeat chart-toppers from "Mandy" has made him one of pop music’s cherished showmen, will have a procedure to take out a section of lung tissue in an effort to treat the disease, which is at an early phase.

“For those who have been following, I recently endured six weeks of a severe cough followed by a return of another five weeks.

“Even though I was past the infection and returned to the spotlight at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor requested an MRI just to be certain that all was clear.

“The MRI detected a malignant lesion on my lung that must be removed. It’s incredible chance (and a great doctor) that it was caught so early.”

Rescheduled Shows

He has postponed a string of upcoming concerts, but stated he would be on stage again by the February holiday for his long-running concert series at his Vegas home.

He continued: “The doctors do not believe it has traveled and I’m having examinations to support their conclusion. So, that’s it. No chemotherapy. No radiation. Just home remedies and favorite shows.

“I’m looking forward to until I rejoin my second home at the Westgate Las Vegas for our special weekend performances.”

A Long Career and Personal Life

Manilow is presently in his 16th year of a show on the Las Vegas Strip. The singer has been in the public eye and revealed he is gay in 2017, after tying the knot with his partner of many years, Garry Kief privately in 2014.

The pair were in a clandestine romance for in excess of 35 years. Last year, Manilow discussed how vital his partner had been to him during his explosion in popularity in the 1970s.

“During my rapid rise to fame, it was just hectic. And, you know, coming home to an lonesome hotel suite, you can land in a lot of problems if you, you know, you’re by yourself repeatedly,” he said.

“But I found my partner right around when it was taking off. And I no longer had to go back to those isolated suites. I had somebody to cry with or to share joys with.

“I desire that aspiring artists don’t have to go back to those hotel rooms by themselves, because you get yourself in trouble. I never did. But it was pretty lonely until I met Garry. And then it was a shared adventure.”
