The French first lady's child, Tiphaine Auzière, testified to a judicial body in Paris that misleading allegations online—including the baseless theory that she had a male birth identity—have significantly harmed her mother's daily existence.
Auzière, a 41-year-old lawyer, appeared as a witness in the legal proceedings of ten people accused of online harassment targeting her mother.
Auzière explained that the first lady now feels perpetual anxiety about her demeanor, such as her fashion choices to the way she carries herself, because of the fear that each snapshot could be manipulated to fuel malicious comments.
"The consequence is that she always needs to be careful to her clothing, how she holds herself, no matter what her activities in day-to-day existence," Auzière informed the judges.
Ten individuals, in that age range, are facing charges for digital abuse. Several had a small social media following, while several more were more prominent.
All is charged with spreading defamatory content about Brigitte Macron's personal life. In certain cases, this involved linking the age gap with the French president to hurtful comparisons.
If found responsible, they face a maximum of two years in incarceration.
Auzière, a daughter from Brigitte Macron's initial union, described how the inaccurate allegations have led to a "decline of her health" and a "worsening of her daily happiness".
She explained, "Not a day passes when a person fails to mention this to her."
She emphasized the effects on the family, for example the kids learning about false assertions like "She is lying" or "She is actually a man".
"She does not know what to do about it," she remarked. "She didn't run for election, she has not sought any of this, and she is continually facing these assaults."
This case is the latest phase in a broader legal battle against the baseless theory that she was male.
The couple have pursued a case in America alleging slander against a political commentator who amplified the allegation.
The case asserts that the allegation is entirely inaccurate and points out that the name mentioned is really her older brother.
During the trial, several defendants rejected the allegations.
The inaccurate claim regarding Brigitte Macron's sex spread in part because their marriage has often been a topic of comment in digital spaces.
The first lady, aged 24 years older than Emmanuel Macron, first met the future president when serving as a teacher at his school.
The connection between them grew through drama activities, and they married in the following year, following her separation.
Auzière wrapped up her account by expressing that the false claims have produced a "chaos that continues endlessly" for her mother.
